A couple of years ago, this question would have been a pretty easy one to answer. Although Nvidia was showing a lot of promise in the tech industry and had been earmarked as one to watch by many business analysts and investors, nobody could foresee the astonishing price action just around the corner for the Californian-based tech juggernaut.
Nvidia has already gatecrashed the party considerably. They’ve leapfrogged Google in size and market cap, and with their share price continuing to continue on its way to $1,000 – it now has Apple and Microsoft in its sights. Are these two fellow tech giants out of reach, or is there a scenario that could see Nvidia surpass both and become the world’s most valuable company?
Reasons Behind Nvidia’s Growth
While Nvidia has pioneered some of the most fascinating developments in GPU chips, its continued investment and success in the AI industry have been behind the majority of its sustained growth over the last 18 months. Although Nvidia is one of the most innovative tech companies currently in the market, it has been developing high-quality GPU chips and installing groundbreaking processing software on them.
Their technology was implemented in several devices before their huge AI breakthroughs, from smart TVs to laptops, and in several underlying technologies that have helped solve latency issues in streaming and online casino gaming.
Online Gaming & Graphics Cards
Suppose you play casino games or any other type of PC games. In that case, you know that many of their GPU chips and software innovations have been implemented into multiple elements of their business. Cryptocurrency casinos have a further vested interest in Nvidia’s technology, as many of their GPU chips are the market-leading choice for mining Bitcoin. This helps such platforms to gain new customers, offering bonus Bitcoin as a promotion to those looking to switch from traditional casinos to blockchain-based gambling.
Cryptocurrency casinos are the latest in the gambling industry to implement a lot of this software to ensure the gaming experience is as smooth as possible. Although the mining rewards have dropped significantly since the halving, they’re still the most sought-after chip for Bitcoin miners who continue trying to obtain mining rewards.
Spearheading The AI Revolution
Nvidia has become the most globally visible company in the AI race. While Microsoft might be a couple of stages ahead of them because of their recent pivot to AI, they’ve been able to continue growing because of strategic AI investments. In contrast, Nvidia’s growth has come from pioneering research and design within the field of AI.
In the late 20th century, the idea of modern AI was very much a concept for science-fiction films. While early examples of AI include spellcheck and playing against the computer in chess, for instance, we’re now at a stage where AI can write highly specific specialized texts, ranging from passing the bar exam to cutting-edge developments in finance, medicine, the arts, and healthcare.
A trillion-dollar industry has erupted over the last two years, and given that Nvidia is at the forefront of this as an AI market leader, this is the primary reason behind its exponential growth. Given that AI-driven system, learning is amassing vast banks of content from some of the world’s most prominent social media sites. Nvidia’s processing chips and software act as an integral feature that is driving this change – the multi-faceted components, all of which are positive, meaning that Nvidia is more or less guaranteed to stay within the top 5 tech companies for at least the next decade.
Final Thoughts
Microsoft has positioned itself in an excellent position to emerge as the number-one name in tech. While it might not have been as AI-centric as Nvidia, Microsoft quickly identified that AI would be the next big tech boom, and it has positioned itself accordingly in the market.
Microsoft is currently valued over $1 trillion more than Nvidia at this stage – and given the run that Nvidia has been on over the last 12 months, it’s difficult to see, in the short-term at least, where they’d be able to make up this ground. We’d say the more likely outcome is that they will leapfrog Apple at some point over the next couple of years and that Microsoft and Nvidia will cement themselves at the top of both the tech industry and as the world’s leading companies.
It wouldn’t be the most tremendous shock to see Nvidia become the world’s biggest company, especially with how AI has become the dominant news item since 2022. However, these big spurts in company value tend to plateau or slow down slightly once the initial hysteria settles – but with AI set to change every industry and sector, many economists believe it is only a matter of time before Nvidia surpasses a $3 trillion market cap to close the ground on Microsoft further.
